Introduction

I have a deep desire to find my family -- all those from generations past who struggled and achieved, stumbled and stood up, prayed and sang, wept and rejoiced, lived and loved.  They made us who we are.  They came from small towns in Italy, big cities in England and Denmark, and the countryside of Scotland.  They lived in times when babies frequently died, when the world stretched across a city or a few towns, when life may have been simpler but harder.  Each strand decided to leave home and come to America.  Life was hard, and America beckoned with promises.  Or parents died and there was no other choice.

I will tell their story piece by piece, as I discover new things or share what I have learned already.  My primary audience is my own extended family, in the hope that they will share my enjoyment and perhaps lend a story or a photo.  I will also document my journey so those who love genealogy can glean a few tips on how to pursue their own research.  Along the way, the casual reader may enjoy a few stories and catch a glimpse of interesting characters that walk through these pages.
My mom and dad's wedding, with Daisy Juchau (Turner), Lucia Grillo (Zappala), and Carmelo Zappala.
